Originally drawn with ink and metal brush on mylar, then exposed to a photo-sensitive zinc plate. Chemical developer washes away the image area, leaving a bare metal symbol surrounded by resistant coating. An acid bath bites—or etchs—the image, creating a depression below the surface of the plate. Each impression is inked and wiped by hand. On a press bed, dampened paper is laid over the plate. Pressure rollers then squeeze the paper into depressions and consequently pull the ink out. The resulting print is a record of this process, and yours will differ slightly from the preview shown; no two are identical.
